Clinical Finishing Program

Hotspurs Clinical Finishing Program will focus on technique, movement, clinical finishing, and spatial awareness. To become an elite goal scorer, a striker needs to master

technical ball-striking, physical positioning, and the ability to exploit defensive gaps.

Program Coach: Monti Mohsen, National C Diploma

* Only those players who are currently registered in a Hotspurs recreational or competitive program are eligible to register for the Striker Training program.

The 3 Pillars of Clinical Finishing:

1. Attacking Movement & Spatial Awareness

A great attacker rarely stands still. Players learn to constantly create separation from defenders using elite movement patterns:

  • Blind-Side & Counter-Movement: Exploiting the defender's field of vision to get open.
  • Near-Post Sprints: Slashing runs across the face of goal to beat defenders to the ball.
  • Far-Post Peeling: Dropping off the backline to create space for an open shot.

2. Clinical Finishing Techniques

Elite goal-scorers do not just kick the ball; they select the correct tool based on positioning and goalkeeper placement:

  • Low Driven Power Strikes: Mastering laces technique to drill the ball into the lower corners.
  • Finesse & Bending Shots: Utilizing the inside of the foot to wrap the ball around defenders or keepers.
  • First-Time Finishing: Developing the reactions and body mechanics to finish instantly without taking a touch.

3. Back-to-Goal & Possession Link-Up

Modern attackers must connect the midfield to the final third. Players learn to secure the ball under heavy pressure:

  • Body Shielding & Mechanics: Using the physical frame to protect the ball from aggressive defenders.
  • One-Touch Lay-Offs & Creative Turns: Linking play with midfielders or spinning away from pressure to shoot.
