Youth Winter Recreational 2026-27

The Nepean Hotspurs offers the opportunity for youth players aged 4 to 16, to participate in recreational soccer as part of its “Let the Kids Play Program” (LKP). LKP focuses on developing each player's physical, technical/tactical, and social/emotional skills. Our program incorporates the Long-Term Player Development model adopted from Soccer Canada aimed to develop the complete athlete.

Our Player-Focused Approach to Development

Winter recreational is held once-a-week on Saturdays and is the perfect program for players who are new to the game of soccer, or who are looking to develop their soccer skills. Each session will be between 45-55 minutes, depending on the age of the player. All players will be placed in their age groups based on their calendar year of birth. Our Recreational programs are lead by experienced and certified Hotspurs coaches and combine both game-related skill development activities and intergroup small-sided games.

Throughout the program if our coaches determine that a players' development level does not match their biological age grouping it will be recommended that they be moved to a more appropriate development grouping. Through this approach we will ensure ALL PLAYERS HAVE THE BEST CHANCE OF SUCCESS IN SOCCER by tailoring training, competition and coaching to their needs at their appropriate stage of development.

Attempts will be made to limit group sizes in each age group to a maximum of 12 players. Age groups or genders may be combined if numbers are insufficient to offer all program groups separately.
